เดา Main Idea จาก Structure Map — เทคนิค SAT Reading

ปัญหาที่เจอบ่อย

นักเรียนอ่าน passage SAT Reading ทีละบรรทัดตั้งแต่ต้นจนจบ กว่าจะเจอ main idea ก็ต้องย้อนกลับไปอ่านซ้ำ เสียเวลาเฉลี่ย 2-3 นาทีต่อ passage และถ้าเจอ passage ยาว (ประวัติศาสตร์/วรรณกรรม) ยิ่งอ่านไม่ทัน

วิธีทำ

1. อ่าน topic sentence (ประโยคแรก) ของแต่ละย่อหน้าก่อน — ส่วนใหญ่ main idea อยู่ตรงนี้
2. สังเกต transition words เช่น "however", "therefore", "in contrast", "as a result" — คำเหล่านี้บอกจุด转折 (turning point) ของเนื้อหา
3. จด short note หรือทำ mental map: ย่อหน้า A = เห็นด้วย, ย่อหน้า B = แย้ง, ย่อหน้า C = สรุป
4. อ่านคำถามก่อน — แล้วค่อยหาคำตอบจาก structure map ที่เราจดไว้
5. ถ้าคำถามถาม main idea — ให้ดูสรุปของย่อหน้าสุดท้ายเป็นหลัก

ตัวอย่าง Passage ความยาว 70 บรรทัด เกี่ยวกับ "renewable energy"

ย่อหน้า 1: "Many believe solar energy is the future..." (Topic: ความเชื่อกระแสหลัก) ย่อหน้า 2: "However, recent studies reveal a critical flaw..." (转折: ชี้ข้อเสีย) ย่อหน้า 3: "Nevertheless, innovations in storage technology..." (转折อีก: มีทางออก)

คำถาม: "The primary purpose of the passage is to..."

จาก structure map เราเห็นว่า passage ไม่ได้แค่ praise solar — มีข้อเสียและทางออก → main idea คือ "discuss the challenges and potential solutions" ไม่ใช่ "promote solar"

สรุปจำง่าย "อย่าอ่านเรียงร้อย — ดู转折แล้วร้อยเรียงเอง"
